Freudenberg Filtration Technologies is organizing a series of webinars on the ISO 16890 test standard, which looks into specific applications and will introduce the Viledon® e.FFECT concept. At the beginning of the year, ISO 16890 replaced the previous EN 779 test standard. It will become mandatory from mid-2018 at the latest.

Freudenberg Filtration Technologies is currently running webinars to pass on the company’s knowledge of the new method for the
evaluation and classification of fine and coarse dust filters. Customers and prospective customers can choose between six training sessions, each lasting around one hour. The free webinars are geared towards users in the areas of surface technology, gas
turbines and compressors (turbomachines) as well as beverages and foodstuffs.

Dr. Thomas Caesar, director of Global of Global Filter Engineering at Freudenberg Filtration Technologies and an expert in his area, begins by presenting the innovations, effects and advantages of the ISO 16890 test standard. For example, the new standard is more realistic and meaningful than its predecessor in that it considers a broad spectrum of particle sizes. After all, there are many forms of dust.

In the second part of the webinar, the experts turn their attention to their respective specialist areas and explore specific application conditions in the fields of surface technology, food & beverage and gas turbines and compressors. This information enables plant operators to select their filter systems according to their own process requirements and the specific ambient conditions or dust concentrations of their location.

The final part of the webinar introduces the new Viledon® e.FFECT calculation tool, developed by Freudenberg Filtration Technologies for supply air filtration. e.FFECT makes it easy to analyze and design single and multi-stage filter systems. The program paves the customer’s way to the optimal filtration solution by determining an individually tailor-made filter arrangement under real-life operating conditions. This in turn ensures maximum functional reliability, energy and cost efficiency.
Six webinar dates are currently available. The next webinars will be held on November 16 and 21 and will deal with surface technology applications.

For those in the food and beverage industry, two events will take place on December 5. Operators of gas turbines will have their
